Precision-Built 3 Phase Step-up Transformers
Southern Electronic Services designs and manufactures custom step-up transformers to bridge the gap between differing international or site-specific voltages.
Whether you’re powering imported machinery, exporting Australian-built systems, or improving power delivery across long cable runs, our locally built step-up transformers deliver the correct voltage safely, efficiently, and reliably.
Find the Right Step-up Transformer for Every Operation
Imported Equipment Compatibility
SD460 RANGE – 415V to 460V
SD480 RANGE – 415V to 480V
SD600 RANGE – 415V to 600V
Ideal for industrial equipment typically sourced from the US or Canada with higher voltage ratings for operation in Australia.
Mining and Heavy Industry Applications
415V to 460V / 525V / 690V
Built to withstand harsh environments and perform under strenuous loads. Ideal for draglines, conveyors, pumps, crushers, and MCCs operating on 525 V or 690 V systems.
Export Equipment Testing and Supply
200 V / 220 V / 380 V to 415 V
Enable local testing, commissioning, and operation under true site conditions or permanent conversion once installed overseas ( for world-wide markets, typically US, Asia, Middle East, and Europe.
Long Cable Runs and Voltage Drop Management
415 V to 800 V / 1000 V
Designed to step up the voltage to reduce current flow and improve efficiency. Ideal for Stand-Alone Power Systems (SPS), solar farms, and hybrid microgrids or remote access applications. Partner with a Step down transformer on the other end, and save on cable costs

Frequently Asked Step-up Transformer Questions
Our step-up transformers are typically autotransformers. This means they do not provide galvanic isolation. However, if your operations require full isolation, we do offer 3-phase isolation transformers. Reach out to our team today to discuss your requirements or concerns.
Imported machinery often operates at a different voltage than Australia’s 415V (400V nominal) supply. Running directly from 415 V mains may cause undervoltage or overvoltage faults, heat stress, and equipment malfunction.
Supply voltages also often differ for Australian-made export equipment. At SES, every unit, whether for import or export, is tailored to match your required input and output voltages precisely.
You’ll need to confirm either from the equipment rating plate, or supplier, as the US has two main 3 phase voltage levels they work with; commonly either 208v-220v, or 460V-480V.
Our SD480 range is the most commonly used type of step-up transformer converting Australia’s 415V up to 480V range, whereas our SD220 range steps Australia’s 415V down to 220V.. It converts large industrial equipment, pumps, compressors, VFDs, and HVAC systems from the USA, 480V is a common voltage.
Regardless of the application and voltage, you can be sure SES has a solution.
If you have specific voltage requirements, we can customise step-up transformer solutions for you. Every SES step-up transformer is designed and manufactured in-house, allowing us to fine-tune voltage, impedance, and connections to suit your exact machinery and installation needs.
Many mining and heavy industrial operations rely on higher voltage networks to improve efficiency and reduce current draw across large sites.
SES step-up transformers are designed to be rugged, copper-wound devices that allow exact voltage configuration to match site distribution systems and equipment requirements.
In renewable, remote, or large-scale infrastructure, long distribution runs can introduce significant voltage drop, power loss and costly wiring runs if running 4-core 415V cable. Step-up transformers can be used to maintain stable, efficient performance across your network, and reduce cable costs significantly.
At SES, we configure the optimal voltage ratio and winding arrangement to ensure your step-up transformer makes a difference in your operations.
With full build capability, we ensure each transformer precisely replicates your target supply voltage, giving you confidence before export or installation.
