Southern Electronic Services builds a range of 3 phase transformers, ready for hardwiring into your project.

SES holds high levels of materials to ensure we can deliver your project quickly.

  • LV Dry-type isolation transformers up to 750kVA
  • Typical input/output of 415v/415v, but can design and build up to 3.3kV
  • Configuration of Delta/Star (Dyn11) is standard, but can design and build to any requirements
  • All of our transformers are wound with enamelled copper for optimal performance and longevity
  • Transformers are built using high-grade electrical steel for cores, minimising losses
  • Class H (180°C) standard
  • Full customisation to best suit application. Electro-static shielding, off-load tapping, additional switchgear all available
  • K4 K-Factor standard, but can design to suit needs.
  • Typical enclosures are IP33 (indoor) or IP65 (outdoor) rated, other available upon request. Enclosures are heavy-duty powdercoated mild steel.

Understanding Isolation Transformers

Isolation transformers block transmission between the primary and secondary electrical circuits. They play a vital role in protecting the power supply and power supply lines, allowing the voltage to increase from one section to another.

An isolation transformer is critical for many types of equipment and installations.

Isolation Transformers

How Does an Isolation Transformer Work?

An isolation transformer is connected between the power supply (input) and an electrical circuit or device (output) to prevent electrical currents from traveling directly between circuits. This electrical isolation reduces the risk of equipment damage and protects people from electric shock.

Our transformers are designed to separate (isolate) a circuit from the supply. Typically a isolation transformer provide the same voltage at the output as the primary power supply voltage at the input, however, voltage conversion is also possible and common if needed. Their primary function is to achieve circuit separation by isolating the primary and secondary windings, enhancing safety, and reducing electrical noise.

Many transformers also include an electrostatic shield between the windings, which helps to block high-frequency noise from passing through to the output, offering additional protection for specialised equipment.

Why Use Isolation Transformers?

Isolation transformers are typically specified to protect equipment, improve system reliability, and manage electrical noise in demanding environments. They are used where:

  • Sensitive electronics require separation from site supply
  • Ground potential differences may cause interference
  • Fault containment is important
  • Compliance or earthing configuration requires electrical isolation

Optional electrostatic shields can further reduce high-frequency noise transfer between windings.

Choosing the Right Commercial Isolation Transformer

When selecting an isolation transformer, ensure it meets the specific voltage, current, and power requirements of your application. The right transformer provides effective isolation and protection, tailored to the operational demands of your system.

Benefits of Isolation Transformers

Create a Safer Environment

They can help prevent electrical shocks and reduce electrical noise, to protect workers and clients from harm.

quality

Protect Your Equipment

Isolation transformers can protect critical devices from damage, increasing their lifespan and effectiveness.

Reduced Noise

Isolation transformers reduce electromagnetic interference between circuits, thereby reducing noise in the system.

performance

Save on Costs

Isolation transformers are often more affordable than other power transformers, helping you save on costs and offering great value.

Built for Demanding Environments

Isolation transformers are often installed in environments where uptime matters — mining sites, industrial plants, data centres, renewable energy grids, BESS and HVAC systems, major infrastructure and more.

By electrically separating supply and load, they help contain faults, reduce interference, and support stable system performance in demanding operating conditions.
When reliability matters, specification matters.

Isolation Transformers

Protect Your Equipment and Electrical Systems with Confidence

Isolation transformers are critical system components where accuracy matters. Voltage ratio, impedance, earthing configuration and environmental conditions must align with the project specification.

At SES, we manufacture to specification while ensuring the design suits real-world operating conditions.
